It's been almost a month since the last run with the flag in 2010 - but that hasn't seemed to stop other activity and meetings coming up throughout the year.
It also hasn't stopped the progress of this team that is starting to spread out throughout the nation.  Just this past Sunday, October 3rd - a guy by the name of James Armstrong with Soldiers Race Team of New Jersey did something very special.  I shouldn't really say it like that, because he does this for more than just one guy - but this time in particular he ran a triathlon in honor and memory of Corey Rystad.  A kid he never knew.  Much like this running with the flag has forwarded for me to all Gold Star families - running in memory of their loved ones too, James selects one member of the military that has lost their life and runs for them at each race.
He got in touch with me through Shelle Michaels of Soldier's Angels.  I'm glad Shelle connected us.  It's been great getting and staying in touch with James and his run team.  This is going to lead to great things, as it already has with him running for Corey last Sunday!
I'd like you to check out his Facebook site - there are some pictures of him with the writing "RIP" on his right forearm and "COREY" on the left fore arm.  James took 1st in his age group at this race too.  Passing the torch to the east coast made me realize there are other people just as, or more crazy than me.  That is a great feeling, knowing others are willing to get motivated and get out there to run for a purpose.  He is absolutely right, James says when you run with a purpose, it makes it a lot easier.  I can definitely relate to that!
Here's the link, enjoy!
